Last week, Portsmouth Aviation became the proud winners of the Solent 250 Growth Story of the Year Award 2023!

The Business Magazine’s event, held at the Harbour Hotel Spa in Southampton, hosted an inspirational and innovative collective of companies that have excelled this year. We feel incredibly privileged to be amongst the remarkable finalists Beyond Retail, MSP Capital, Partnering Health and Supreme Freight, as well as the other companies celebrated.

George Weston from the CMA Recruitment Group presented us the award, and noted it was not just about our 88% growth, but our workplace culture, investments and diversification across the company. At Portsmouth Aviation, we are committed to exploring new areas of business, creating a nurturing workplace environment and striving for engineering excellence. It is an honour to be acknowledged by The Business Magazine for our growth, and for our employees to be identified for their hard work.

‘Solent 250 companies provide a hefty economic contribution to the region and the best-of-the-best were honoured at the ninth annual Solent 250 Awards.’

Tim Wickham – The Business Magazine, 10th May 2023

It is essential to Portsmouth Aviation that we are making a positive contribution to our community. This company has been a part of Portsmouth’s history since 1929, and we want to continue to be so. To be the Growth Story of the Year is a testament that we can be part of the evolution of our region. George Weston also stated that we ‘consistently invested significant sums in capital and plant maintaining their excellence in engineering and manufacturing solutions through continuous innovation. [Portsmouth Aviation are] now offering perhaps the widest capability in their field across the Solent.’ Our varied and expert engineering capabilities across the business are something we take great pride in, so we feel exceedingly fortunate that The Business Magazine have recognised us for this award.

Our managing director, Simon Escott, states, ‘our growth rate has exceeded our expectations. We have achieved this by investing over a number of years in our plant and people, looking at new overseas markets, entering partnerships, moving into sustainability and expanding our engineering skills. We have introduced lean management and supply chain improvement initiatives that help us to focus on delivery, performance and quality. We keep everyone up to speed by communicating with our teams three times a week. We are also diversifying into humanitarian and environmental solutions, particularly in the Middle East.’

Simon & Trophy

It is down to the dedication of our staff, in all departments, that we can gratefully receive this award. This company is built upon the passion of our engineers, the determination and commitment of management and the strong relationships we have with our valued clients. This award represents our hopes for the future and demonstrates the potential for our company to continue growing.
