International, defence companies team up to demonstrate cutting-edge power solutions
Portsmouth Aviation (PA) is to collaborate with HDT and Lockheed Martin, in less than two weeks, as the three companies work together to demonstrate their products and expertise to support the MoD Capability Vision to “Reduce the dependency on fossil fuels” for FOB Operations. Portsmouth Aviation regularly works in partnership with other defence providers in order to produce a system solution to suit the exact needs of its Customers.
The collaboration will take place at the forthcoming POWERFOB Field Demonstration, organized by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), which is to be held at Caerwent, South Wales on 21-25 February.
“At the POWERFOB Demonstration, the MoD will be seeking out sustainable new technologies and solutions which can be used to provide power and support to Forward Operating Bases (FOBs). They are aiming to identify systems that operate more efficiently than current solutions and reduces the reliance on fossil fuels” explains Martin Wynne, Business and Technology Development Manager at Portsmouth Aviation. “The Demonstration will present an opportunity to demonstrate the potential value in teaming up with complementary companies. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what other exhibitors have on show, as it really will serve as a compact glimpse of the future of this defence technology strand.”
The collaborative effort will demonstrate the potential of future technologies; including the Lockheed Martin Intelligent Microgrid System and Energy Efficient Deployed Base solutions from HDT. The companies expect that they will each be able to demonstrate their individual specialisations potential more efficiently than if they were to attend the event individually.
The aim of POWERFOB is to reach out to industry, including those not traditionally associated with Defence, to provide an opportunity to showcase and demonstrate products and technologies which could either reduce the energy requirements of a FOB or reduce the dependency on fossil fuels.
