Painting

Portsmouth Aviation has its own in-house paint shop designed to support our manufacture and metal finishing departments in order to provide you with a well-finished, hand-sprayed product.

We are able to paint to most Def. Stan requirements or according to your brief and can provide a range of services to ensure you get the finish that you require.

We have humidity and temperature controlled spray booths and storage facilities.  Paints may be stored up to 10 years, depending on the specification of the paint we are required to use.

Most importantly, none of our work we do is carried out by robots; each job is completed by hand. Everything we produce is to the highest hand-sprayed standards.

We are able to offer:

  • Single pack and twin pack paint solutions, including organic
  • A large masking facility
  • Large Airdry facilities
  • Several Stoving areas of varying sizes – all with controlled ovens.

There is no minimum or maximum order size.

*Depending on the specification of the paint we are required to use.

Shot-Blast and Metal Spray

We have a large, in-house sand-blasting facility, which can be used to remove build up on metal surfaces and to give a key to provide good adhesion properties on smooth metal surfaces.

Metal spraying provides an effective corrosive barrier as well as an excellent cohesive surface for further painting or treatment.

Zinc spraying can be closely controlled in thickness and will provide a smooth and consistent finish. This form of treatment also ensures no distortion during treatment.

Zinc is an anodic coating – meaning it’s self-sacrificial and will oxidise (the process that can eventually cause rust and corrosion) to protect the metal underneath.

Our zinc metal spraying facilities can take frames up to 2m high x 2m wide x 5m long.
