Sulphuric Anodising

Sulphuric anodising is widely acknowledged as the best choice for decorative applications. The process uses a dilute sulphuric acid solution and operates at room temperature.   The oxide layer produced is generally clear, which allows the silver colour of the aluminium to shine through. This is excellent for dyeing; as it allows a wide range of attractive metallic colours to be applied.

Film thicknesses can vary greatly depending on the application.  Films of 3 to 10 microns offer lower levels of protection, but are economic and easy to apply.  However, thicker films of 15 to 25 microns absorb dye well; and offer improved corrosion resistance, plus improved mechanical performance.

Applications often include:

  • Architectural Components
  • Cookware
  • Decorative Components
  • Electrical Insulation
  • When greater corrosive protection in severe conditions (Salt mist) is required
  • When the coating requires Durability and Scratch Resistance

Our list of approved specifications available:

  • Def Stan 03-25
  • MIL-A-8625F
  • PS5102-2
  • EPS No 2011
  • WHPS 258

However, if your product requires plating to a specification different to those listed above; please don’t hesitate to contact us in order to discuss your requirement.

As Metal Finishing experts we would be keen to have the opportunity to provide some advice and maybe offer a solution. nity to provide some advice and maybe offer a solution.
