Our Radial Filter Unit has been designed to integrate into a new build or existing vessels with the minimum of structural change. It is welded into the ship structure and can be used in conjunction with a separate pre-particulate filter and a fan, both of which we can supply if required.
The Radial Filter system can be supplied with manual operation through varying degrees of automation to the fully automated version which enables the system to be remotely controlled from the Command Position.
The filters used in
- The unit will withstand shock levels of 70g in the vertical plane and 30g in the horizontal plane. Each unit has a maximum airflow rate of 900 m3/hr.
- The filter elements are manufactured to NATO STANAG 4447, with common dimensions, thus ensuring support across NATO navies.
- Filters are designed to be changed at sea, so improving operational availability.
Each filter consists of a stainless steel mesh which encloses:
- A HEPA Filter, which removes fine particulate matter down to 0.3 microns, including bacteria.
- A Gas Filter, which removes chemical and radioactive warfare agents in the form of gases or vapours by adsorption to the activated charcoal filling.
This system has been fitted to the naval Type 45 and Type 23 Frigates , as well as LPD Class, Ocean Class, Wave Knight class and Multi Role Survey Class vessels.
